Prevent Birds Flying into Windows with Window Alert Decals

Birds can strike windows and patio doors as they do not understand or see the glass or understand reflections. Millions of birds die every year by flying into windows in this way and the increasing use of curtains of glass in buildings will only make the problem worse.

Birds focus on objects that are reflected in the glass and do not see the window surface. Although they have better vision than we do they cannot focus both on the reflection and the glass surface. So preventing reflections can be one way to stop birds flying into the window. This could be achieved by the use of curtains or blinds or changing the lighting. Placing something on the window allows the bird to focus on the window rather than the reflection. You could use paper flowers, paper strips, stained glass ornaments etc or place windchimes close to the glass.

Another solution is to attach decals to the glass to make it visible to them. Many people however do not want their glass covered in decals but do want to find a way to stop the birds colliding with the glass.

You could to use decals that are invisible to the human eye but are visible to the birds. Window Alert Decals are one solution. They are designed to reflect ultra violet rays from the sun which are invisible to us but clearly seen by the birds. They can be applied to any glass surface and are easily removed. They will not interfere with the visibility of the glass but will allow the birds to see that there is a barrier there that they cannot fly through.
